At D-Best Technologies, we’re always looking for ways to enhance your digital experience while keeping your data secure. We’re thrilled to announce a series of updates to your Microsoft 365 environment that will be rolled out over the next 30 days. These updates are part of our proprietary D-Best Security Standards – a set of over 50 security and productivity enhancements developed specifically for our clients.

What’s New?

Enhanced Security Features

  1. Real-Time Alerting for Suspicious Activities: We’ve implemented real-time monitoring to detect actions that could indicate an email breach, such as the creation of internal mail rules.
  2. More Secure Guest Management: Guest users will have restricted directory access, and inactive guest accounts will be blocked after 90 days.
  3. Automatic Sign-Out for Inactive Sessions: Users will be automatically signed out after one hour of inactivity on Microsoft 365 web apps.
  4. Mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): MFA will be enforced for all users, adding an extra layer of security.
  5. Controlled Application Permissions: Administrative approval will be required before granting access to third-party applications.
  6. External Email Indicators: Improved indicators for emails from external senders to help identify potential phishing attempts.
  7. Disabling Automatic External Forwarding: To prevent unauthorized data leakage, automatic forwarding to external recipients will be disabled by default.
  8. Protected SharePoint Downloads: Infected files detected in SharePoint will be blocked from download.

Quality of Life Improvements

  1. Simplified Password Management: Passwords will no longer expire, reducing disruptions while maintaining security through MFA.
  2. Built-In “Report” Button: The “Report Spam” button will be enabled in Outlook by default.
  3. Email Recall Capability: Users can now recall sent emails using the Cloud Message Recall feature.
  4. Sending from Alias Addresses: Users can send emails from their alias addresses for greater flexibility.
  5. Improved Shared Mailbox Functionality: Emails sent from shared mailboxes will be saved in the shared mailbox’s “Sent Items” folder.
  6. Expanded Mailbox Storage: Auto-expanding archives will be enabled for all users.
  7. Extended OneDrive Data Retention: Deleted users’ OneDrive data will be retained for one year.
